Creepy, creepy, creepy! This is a YA horror novel that uses atmosphere and mystery to keep you hooked all the way through the book.

This book was fantastic! I’ve enjoyed Kingfisher’s other works, but this is probably my favorite of them all. This was a dark southern gothic book, and it was interspersed with a scientific main character.

First off, this book drew me in from the start. Meuret’s writing was excellent, and I loved how she framed Josie as a character. She felt so real – and so human. I liked that you could see the facets of her from the start, could actually believe she was sitting next to you. The way this was written felt like you were with a friend, or someone telling you a story. It was intimate in ways, close.

First off, I have heard nothing but good things about this book. And I was really excited to read it despite not loving The Beautiful Ones. I loved the writing in that book, and I felt that this book would give me everything I could want. Suffice to say, this book should be on everyone’s lists who likes scary stories, gothic horror, or just a good paranormal mystery.
