I will say that if you like Serpent & Dove (at least book 1) you'll probably like this one as well. It's really about the same level of interesting things happening and romance as S&D. However, there are definitely are a few differences.

Christo does villainous female main characters so well, or dark ones, however you want to phrase it. They're some of my favorites written, because I'd call them the "stabby heroine" type, which I adore.

I've pretty much loved all of Saft's works, and this one is just as excellent as the others. While Down Comes the Night remains my favorite, this one is probably my second.
