Book Review

I was SO excited for Six Crimson Cranes because I adored her Blood of Stars duology. This was Fairyloot’s July book pick, and the book is absolutely stunning!
I went in with high expectations for this one. I didn’t end up loving this one as much. I did still find it enjoyable, just not to the extent that I liked her other series. This was not a bad book by any stretch of the imagination, but there were a few parts in it that I didn’t love as much. I knew that this was a retelling, but I don’t think I’ve ever read the original, so I went into this without any preconceived notions about what to expect in regard to the original versus the retelling. That is a benefit to me, and usually works out better.

The sequel to The Princess Will Save You was good. It wasn’t anything like I expected it to be, however. I thought for sure that this was a duology but the way it ended made me think that it is going to be a series. Anyways, I’m not sure if I liked it more or less than the first book.

This is a book I was really excited for. I loved Craig’s debut, A House of Salt and Sorrows and when I went into this book I was looking forward to it. I’m honestly not sure what went wrong for me to be honest. I was into it in the beginning, and I think that it was an intriguing idea.

A f/f rom-com with a paranormal element — and a beautiful story that makes you smile. While I think RWRB is still better, this one is no sluggish second book.

When we do get women in myth they are usually evil or temptresses or some other variety of a woman who is considered bad or wrong. Much like Circe, Ariadne takes the myth as we know it and turns it into a powerful look at sexism and empowerment.

This Golden Flame is a romance-less sci fi story. However, it did not work for me for a multitude of reasons.

I was quite excited to get back to this world, because it was left on a bit of a cliffhanger, and I wondered what was going to happen in the next book and how many of the loose ends would be wrapped up. I feel overall that this book was an extremely satisfying conclusion to the first book.
