This book picks up not too long after Ithaca ends, and we once again rejoin Penelope on Ithaca. Instead of Hera, Aphrodite narrates this book, and what I love about North is she makes these goddesses so likeable (or unlikeable depending on your POV).

Greek myth from the POV of women is something I adore, but sometimes it gets bogged down in a sort of way that doesn’t always work, but Claire North does something different

This acts as a sort of “prequel” to Six Crimson Cranes, as it is the stepmother’s story in this one. I thought that it was nice to get a backstory to someone we thought was a “villain” at first
