Hi all! First off, thanks to Ellie of Eleanor Sophie Writes who tagged me to do the Fellowship of the Ring book tag! I’m so stoked to do this. I apologize it took me so long!
Gandalf – A book that taught you something
Ooof. I guess it depends on what “taught” means. Tamora Pierce’s Tortall series taught me girls could be fierce fighters as well as loveable. As far as something more educational? Probably some of the ancient Greek Historians!
Frodo – A book that left a mark on you
It’s cheesy, but I always loved reading. The Elenium trilogy by David Eddings comes to mind as does Anne Bishop’s Black Jewels. I read both of them in middle school and they are two VERY different types of fantasy, but they left an indelible mark on me, and I totally know why I read the things I do to this day — it’s because of books like those. (Same for Tamora Pierce and Meg Cabot tbh).
Legolas – A book you finished in one sitting
See, okay. I finish most books in one sitting. So this is a bit…of an irrelevant question for me.
Gimli – A book that features an unlikely friendship
…can I same Gimli and Legolas? Haha! But in all seriousness I think that the group in The Raven Cycle is an unlikely friendship.
Merry – A book that pleasantly surprised you
I’ll admit to the fact that Frozen Crown by Greta Kelly pleasantly surprised me. I read it through the library then went and immediately bought myself a copy. I loved it. Also, The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren.
Pippin – A book that made you laugh
So, the Crave series chapter titles never fail to make me laugh. Red, White and Royal Blue too.
Boromir – A book/series that you think ended too soon
Any of Margaret Rogerson’s standalones, An Enchantment of Ravens and Sorcery of Thorns . So good! I want more!
Sam – A book with memorable side characters who stole the show
All of SJM’s side characters to be honest!
Aragorn – A good book with a bad/average cover
They’re not horrible, but The Queen’s Rising and The Queen’s Resistance have nice covers, but they’re just average looking. The books are five star reads.
Gollum – A book that had great potential but disappointed you in the end
Hah! Sadly, lots. I just wrote a whole blog post about disappointing sequels this year , but aside from that Elantris. Didn’t like it AT ALL.
I’m tagging all you who read this and want to do it!
