Greek myth from the POV of women is something I adore, but sometimes it gets bogged down in a sort of way that doesn't always work, but Claire North does something different

This acts as a sort of "prequel" to Six Crimson Cranes, as it is the stepmother's story in this one. I thought that it was nice to get a backstory to someone we thought was a "villain" at first

This was a solid YA gothic horror book. It definitely feels comparative to something like Rory Powers or Erin Craig.

If you like modern gothic mysteries, you'll like this book. It was not at all what I was expecting -- I don't know exactly what it was, but in some ways it reminded me a bit of Supernatural and Black Butler.
